Teachers who are new to NYC Public Schools may receive Early Commitment offers from specific schools eligible for Early Commitment. In 2026, all traditionally-certified teacher candidates who receive an Early Commitment from an eligible school and are confirmed in New Teacher Finder (NTF) by June 15 may be eligible for a stipend from TRQ. Stipends are limited and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
Note that NYC Teaching Fellows, Ed Prep NYC candidates, and candidates currently on NYCPS full-time payroll are NOT eligible for the Early Commitment stipend.
Step 1: Accept the Verbal or Written Early Commitment Offer from an Eligible School and Ask the Hiring Manager to Complete the Hiring Commitment Form in the New Teacher Finder
The hiring manager will search for your profile in the NTF and complete your Hiring Commitment form (see below).
Step 2: Receive an Email from the Office of Teacher Recruitment and Quality with a Unique Link
After the hiring manager submits the Hiring Commitment form, you will receive an email with a unique link for your NTF account (see below). You will have five business days to click on the link and accept or decline the Early Commitment offer.
Note that the email will come from nyc@teachersupportnetwork.com so please mark this as a safe sender and check your spam or junk mail folder if you do not see it.
Step 3: Accept or Decline the Offer in the NTF
After you click the offer link, you will be prompted to log in to your New Teacher Finder account and taken to the Early Commitment offer page (see below). Here, you can either accept or decline the offer. Note that this step must be completed before the deadline to be eligible for an Early Commitment stipend.
Once you accept an Early Commitment offer, your hiring manager will receive a confirmation email with more information (see below).
If you decline the offer, you and the hiring manager will receive an email notification.
Step 4: Make Sure that You Receive a Confirmation
After you submit your decision, you will be taken to a confirmation page.
You will receive a reminder email if you do not respond within five business days. If you do not respond within 15 days, the offer will be rescinded, (see below) and you and the hiring manager will be notified.
Step 5: Wait to Hear Next Steps from Your Hiring Manager and TRQ
Congratulations! You have made an Early Commitment to teach in a NYC Public Schools classroom for the 2026-27 school year. Your hiring manager will begin the formal hiring process shortly.
TRQ will review all Early Commitments received by eligible teacher candidates before the deadline to determine stipend eligibility. If eligible, you will receive an email from TRQ confirming your eligibility with information on how and when you will receive your Early Commitment Stipend check.
