If you are stuck on Step 5: State Certification
(1) Check to make sure that you have a valid New York State Teaching License that is not expiring in the next 30-60 days. You may do this by logging in to your New York State TEACH account. Note that the New York State website states that there are extreme delays in processing at this time. If your certificate has not been issued, you will not complete Step 5 of the Applicant Gateway.
(2) Check your nomination in the Applicant Gateway portal. Be sure that your principal nominated you for the correct role: TEACHER, TEACHER-Special Education are the two options. On occasion, if your New York State TEACH account does not match the role you have been nominated for in the Applicant Gateway, you will remain stuck at step 5. Occasionally, this does require your administrator to withdraw your nomination and re-nominate you under the title that matches your New York State TEACH account.
(3) If you do not fall into either of the above categories, please email your Principal and inform them the duration of time that you have been 'stuck' at Step 5 and if you have a current NYSED teaching certificate. Give them as much information as possible. You may suggest that they reach out to their Human Resource Director who can further connect with the certification office to resolve your outstanding issue
