Salary increases based on academic credits, coursework, or degrees beyond a bachelor’s degree are called salary differentials.
There are multiple ways to qualify for salary differentials, and it may be possible to use academic credits that did not count toward a degree in education to qualify for a salary differential. Remember that this is for the purpose of calculating your salary and is different than academic requirements that you need to meet for New York State certification.
You will need to complete a salary differential application in the Salary Application System after you are hired in order to determine if you qualify for a salary differential.
