District 79, which you can learn more about here, or on the District 79 website here is a citywide alternative instructional district that was created to ensure that every student has the opportunity to earn a high school or General Education Development (GED) diploma. District 79 serves high school students, young adults, and students with unique needs (e.g. incarcerated youth or adults pursuing a GED) who require alternative pathways to a quality education. Recognizing that many students need additional support, District 79 was established to help these students succeed by providing diverse and innovative educational opportunities that combine rigorous academic instruction with meaningful development.
