There are limited work visa sponsorship opportunities available through NYCPS schools. These opportunities are only available for candidates who hold New York State Education Department teaching certification in high-need subject areas as determined by NYCPS. Additionally, candidates are required to identify a NYCPS school that wishes to hire them and will cover the costs of their work visa sponsorship.
If you are an NYSED-certified international candidate who has found a school willing to sponsor your work visa, the school’s Human Resources Director (HR Director) will need to contact the NYCPS’s Office of International Teachers and request that they review your qualifications and credentials. Once the Office of International Teachers has approved your qualifications and credentials, they will notify the school's HR Director and Principal to initiate the visa sponsorship process. Approval to move forward with the visa sponsorship process constitutes a job offer. However, employment is not finalized until the visa is approved.
